Terms of Use

These terms govern your use of Serene, an iOS app that helps you create app, category, web-domain, and adult-content boundaries using Apple's Screen Time tools.

1. Acceptance

By downloading, accessing, or using Serene, you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, do not use Serene.

Serene is distributed through Apple's App Store. Your use of the app is also subject to Apple's applicable terms, including the App Store terms and any standard end-user license agreement that applies to apps downloaded from the App Store.

2. The App

Serene helps you create and manage digital boundaries through iOS Screen Time frameworks, including FamilyControls, DeviceActivity, and ManagedSettings. Features may include block schedules, access policies, Exit Passes, local notifications, and settings or recovery screens.

Serene depends on iOS permissions, Apple frameworks, device settings, and system behavior. Some features may be unavailable, delayed, or limited if permissions are denied, iOS changes, the device is offline, Screen Time is unavailable, or Apple changes platform behavior.

3. Your Responsibilities

  • Use Serene only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these terms.
  • Keep your device, Apple ID, purchase credentials, and Screen Time settings secure.
  • Do not attempt to interfere with, reverse engineer, abuse, or bypass Serene's services.
  • Do not use Serene in a way that harms others or violates their rights.

4. Purchases and Exit Passes

Serene may offer consumable in-app purchases, including Exit Passes. Purchases are processed by Apple and may be supported by RevenueCat. Prices, taxes, refunds, family sharing, payment authorization, and purchase history are handled under Apple's App Store rules.

Exit Passes are digital consumables used inside Serene. Once an Exit Pass is spent for an eligible action, it may not be returned except where required by law or Apple's applicable refund policies.

5. Important Limitations

Serene is a digital boundary and focus tool. It is not a medical device, emergency service, parental supervision replacement, security product, or guaranteed method of preventing all access to apps, websites, content, or device settings.

You are responsible for deciding whether Serene is appropriate for your needs. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Serene is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind.

If you rely on Serene for an important routine, keep a backup plan. iOS permissions, system updates, device state, and Apple framework behavior can affect enforcement.

6. Ownership and License

Serene and its software, design, text, graphics, and other materials are owned by the app developer or licensors. Subject to these terms, you receive a limited, personal, non-transferable, revocable license to use Serene on Apple-branded devices that you own or control, as permitted by Apple's App Store rules.

7. Privacy

Serene's handling of information is described in the Privacy Policy. By using Serene, you acknowledge that information will be handled as described there.

8. Third-Party Services

Serene may rely on Apple, Firebase, RevenueCat, GitHub Pages, and email providers. These services are governed by their own terms and policies. We are not responsible for third-party services that we do not control.

9. Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, lost goodwill, or service interruption arising from or related to your use of Serene.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.

10. Suspension or Termination

We may suspend or terminate access to Serene features if you violate these terms, misuse the app, create risk for Serene or others, or if continuing to provide the feature is no longer practical or lawful.

11. Changes

We may update these Terms of Use from time to time. When we do, we will update the effective date on this page. Continued use of Serene after an update means you accept the revised terms.

12. Governing Law

To the extent permitted by applicable law, these terms are governed by the laws of Spain, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Your mandatory consumer rights under the laws of your country or region are not affected.
